Questa settimana - 18 luglio
Ciao a tutti,
We had a wonderful time celebrating carnevale on the last day of last term. There were lots of interesting and colourful costumes and masks. Bravi ragazzi! It was very difficult choosing the winners of the “best dressed” competition.
At carnevale we were treated to the songs “Ci Vuole un Fiore” and “I Giorni” from the 1/2 singing group, “I Suoni delle Cose” by members of Italian Club, and “Giro Girotondo” by students in Foundation, with the 3/4 band. We were also entertained by the school band who performed during the sfilata (parade).
The ragazzi who recited poems were bravissimi! Grazie mille to all of the students who volunteered to recite le poesie (poems), practised in their own time and read beautifully: Emma, Madeline and Eden, Tom (3/4b), Annie (1/2b), Oshin, Velvet (1/2d), Lauren (3/4c), Imogen and Kira (1/2b) and Jack (5/6a).
Well done also to the students (and teachers) who participated in “Una conversazione”: Sayo, Konstantine (5/6a), Nadine (5/6b), Aby, Leila (1/2a), Bernard (1/2d), Naomi (1/2b), Veronica (3/4b), Frank (3/4c), Mr P, Miss Price and Michael.
We were lucky that we had a sunny day and that the students could try their skills at the Italian game “bocce”. Grazie to families who brought in their bocce sets for us to use.
The students also enjoyed an entertaining performance by some colourful characters in the Commedia dell’arte play “The Greatest Pie in the World” (Cultural Fusion) and a delicious Italian lunch cooked by the Parents and Friends. Buonissimo!
Grazie mille to Miss Gill for helping to organise our display of Italian artwork, to Stephen for his help preparing the Foundation students and the bands, to all of the students and teachers for their enthusiasm and great participation.
A special big “grazie” to our Italian captains, Celine and Tim and to our Italian Assistant Giulia, for helping to “host” the day and organise the event.
