Quinta e Sesta: Grades 5 and 6
We will start the term reading extracts from the novel, Un’avventura a Venezia (An Adventure in Venice). Students will work on their reading comprehension and pronunciation.
Then, we will look at “le case” (houses), comparing housing in Italy and Australia, identifying the features of a house, describing our own houses and the location of objects around the home. Students will design and label a plan of a house and describe it using several sentences. We will continue to practise reading and work on translating real estate ads. During the unit we will also look briefly at Italian architecture. The lessons will be conducted in Italian and the students will be encouraged to converse with the teacher and each other in Italian. Andiamo a Venezia
Scoprire Venezia (Discovering Venice)
Last semester we discovered what is interesting and unique about the city of Venice. The students investigated Venice and created an elibro to lead us on a journey of Venice, centred around their particular area of interest and driven by their curiosity.
As well as continuing to talk about our hobbies, express our feelings and preferences, we worked on honing our listening skills and on understanding the main points in spoken interactions.
